Having good bars and restaurants near to your Spanish holiday home is a deal clincher for many who are buying property here on the Costa del Sol. There are so many amazing places to eat and drink on the coast we all found it impossible to pick one favourite. So here is the disclaimer: this is just the start of a series of posts over the coming weeks and months showcasing our favourite places to eat near the places where you might be looking to buy.

“I love La Plage Casanis. It is a boho style restaurant on Estrella de Mar beach just outside Marbella. There is something for everyone – steaks, burgers, seafood and fish. The food really is very good, there is a fantastic selection of wines and unforgettable sunsets! “

Max Beach is an institution on the coast. It is right on the beachfront in the beautiful Riviera del Sol, Mijas Costa. It is a totally different experience at different times of the day. Breakfasts are fantastic as the day starts to heat up. Lunch or afternoon snacks can be enjoyed poolside or in between sunbathing on the beach. Then it transforms into a stylish and trendy eatery in the evenings, with music or DJs later and into the early hours.”

“My choice is not in a particularly cool or trendy location, but the atmosphere and food is amazing! Tánico´s is an ´old school´ Spanish restaurant in Fuengirola that serves locally sourced meat, and fish and seafood from local fisherman that is fished in the traditional Costa del Sol way. There is also a fantastic range of wines. Definitely worth a look.”

Restaurante El Higueron sits high above Fuengirola with a stunning terrace and floor to ceiling windows inside, so the views over Fuengirola coastline are just amazing. The restaurant serves gastro tapas or an a la carte menu and it is great for a special lunch or dinner.”

“I am sticking with my Malaga theme and starting my recommendations with La Reserva 12 in Malaga city centre. There are actually three La Reserva restaurants in Malaga and one in Torremolinos, right on the beach front. I love it here and I have even had my Christmas Day lunch here. The steaks are amazing and my husband loves the fish soup. There is something for everyone and the quality is phenomenal. It is lovely to sit out on the narrow, shady Malaga streets and watch the world go by as you are enjoying your meal. Or if you prefer, you can eat at the bar or in the restaurant.”

Debbie

La Cala Restaurante in Benalmadena is away from the bustling esplanade with virtually its own little beachfront plot. It is a stunning place to eat and the food – a wide range of dishes – is great quality. It is about €25 to €30 for three courses, not including wine. Well worth a visit if you like good food in a great location.”
